Atola Insight is one kind of hardware and software complex data recovery equipment integrating solutions to hard drive diagnosis, firmware recovery,  file recovery and hdd imaging. Atola insight needs to work with their DiskSense USB or DiskSense Gigabit Ethernet unit.

♣ What kind of problems is Atola insight able to handle?

-Diagnoses hard drive and reports the exact problem with the drive, whether it is a PCB (electronic) failure, head failure, media damage, motor freezing, firmware area damage or file system damage.

-Repair firmware corruption

-Password removal

-Firmware backup

-File recovery

♣ Advantages:

-All-in-one solutions with firmware repair and data recovery and provide convenience to use;
-With some automatical firmware recovery solutions
-With case management system

♣ Disadvantages:

-Price is high!
-Doesn’t support Seagate barracuda 7200.11, 12, Maxtor STM series(Seagate technology), old samsung hard drives made prior to 2004, Fujitsu drives of MHW and newer models, limited hitachi hard drives supported.
-Tools are still young and waiting for more updates and functions

♣ Mysterious thing: Some people say Atola insight comes out of PC3000,  one of the Atola developer is from ACE laboratory, therefore, not sure if the core technology is the same!

♣ DataTools Review Ideas and Tips:

If Atola insight is cheaper or if we have enough money, it’s worth a try.  Compared with PC-3000 data recovery suite, we prefer PC3000.
